There will come a time when the internet is no longer fascinated with delulu Matt Rife, but today is not that day. The comedian has been in serious hot water ever since he made a series of offensive and objectively unfunny jokes during his recent Netflix special, Natural Selection. And now, with the help of an old podcast episode, Rife is once again going viral.

A clip began circulating on social media platforms of Rife on the CANCELLED vodcast—a weekly YouTube series hosted by Miss cancelled herself Tana Mongeau, and her best friend Brooke Schofield.

As someone who’s spent a lot of her life on YouTube, I’m very familiar with Mongeau. The Vegas native’s storytimes basically raised me, and in many ways, she was one of the first female influencers to monetise trashy and make a killer living for herself.

So, it makes sense that on Mongeau’s podcast, aptly titled Cancelled, Rife would… Well, cancel himself.

The specific clip that’s got everyone losing it features a conversation between Rife and the girls on jealousy and hate. Rife starts off by stating: “So many f*cking people hate me. For really no reason, and it really made me realise that people only hate somebody they’re jealous of.”

The comedian then states that he’s recently had a “humbling epiphany” and goes on to say: “I’ve been guilty of hating people, and when I’ve fully sat back and thought about it was because I was jealous of where that person was in their life. I thought maybe they’d gotten an opportunity that I should have gotten.”

In quintessential Mongeau form, the vodcast host then responds: “That was a really good well-rounded answer. Do you think people that hate Osama Bin Laden are jealous of him?” To which Rife immediately fires back “Yeah! Of course, they’re mad that he was the one calling the shots, everyone wants to be the one with the remote.”

While Rife will undoubtedly argue that he was simply ‘making a joke’, gen Zers wasted no time in taking to social media and ripping the comedian apart, labelling him an “idiot” and praising Mongeau for calling him out.

Oh, and if you thought that that was the only reason Rife was trending this week, you’d be wrong. The 28-year-old seemingly also fancied beefing with a plastic surgeon.

It all kicked off when @manyfacesofchicago posted a TikTok titled “Me after creating the greatest jawline ever seen just for my patient to get cancelled right after.” Naturally, netizens immediately assumed that the surgeon was referencing Rife. He might be misogynistic but he sure does have a nice jawline.

In response, Rife decided to comment on the surgeon’s video: “Lying about medical history is illegal, just FYI.” Mind you, the surgeon never mentioned Rife’s name or alluded to him in the caption, so the comedian practically outed himself with that one comment. Oh Matt, maybe it’s time you take a break from social media?
