That being said, no official statement to confirm this is true has been made by his family.

As we await more information on whether these rumours are true or not, it should be noted that today marks the 45th anniversary of the natural history series Life On Earth, which Attenborough wrote, produced and starred in. This might explain why his name is currently trending on X.
