Though it’s always good to take some of the celebrity news you read online with a grain of salt, we also believe that being aware of what’s being said about the movers and shakers of the modern-day world can’t hurt either. And guess what the latest scoop is? According to Page Six, Kanye West’s (aka Ye’s) new girlfriend, the actress and artist Julia Fox previously dated Drake, who initially slid into her DMs on Instagram praising her performance in Uncut Gems.
At the time, Fox was still with longtime partner Peter Artemiev—who she shares a one-year-old son with—but allegedly reached back out to Drake after she and Artemiev broke up the next year. Sources told the entertainment publication that Fox and a friend then met up with West’s nemesis/frenemy for drinks at New York City’s trendy Bowery Hotel in February 2020. He also showed up at Bloomingdale’s the next day—where she was doing a promotional gig—and even led to the event having to be closed down in order to accommodate his visit.
Page Six’s source went on to report that the actress later flew to Los Angeles just to spend Valentine’s Day with Drake, who gifted her not one but two Birkin bags. Fox apparently also went to see the (somewhat problematic) rapper at his Toronto mansion. However, she was forced to return to the US before the country’s border closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apparently, long-distance relationships aren’t exactly Fox’s thing, since it was alleged that later, she eventually got back together with Artemiev. But, splitting once again from her longtime beau, Fox started dating Ye after they met in Miami this past New Year’s eve—their relationship continuing to make headlines amid his ongoing divorce with Kim Kardashian.
As if all of this drama wasn’t enough, it’s been said that Fox has actually told West about her previous fling with Drizzy—a man who allegedly puts hot sauce in his used condoms to prevent his partners from trying to get pregnant with him. And surprise, surprise, Ye is “not thrilled about it,” Page Six reported.
It’s commonly known that West and Drake have had an on and off friendship since 2011, after the Canadian star publicly said that he believed himself to be a competitor for West’s spot at the top of rap’s hierarchy. The feud became more heated when rapper Pusha T released a track on an album produced by West that revealed Drake had a son he was hiding from the public and alleged he was a “deadbeat” dad.
They infamously fought for hip-hop supremacy at the end of 2021 when West released Donda, which premiered with 313,000 album sales. A week later, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy became the top-debuting album of the year with 595,300 album units. Ouch.
However, the two rappers appeared to be on better terms following their ‘Free Larry Hoover’ benefit concert held in December 2021. We’re guessing things might not stay this calm now that Ye knows about Fox’s past relationship…
