On Tuesday 12 September 2023, Apple hosted its annual launch event at its California headquarters. The day was pretty momentous, with the company planning on unveiling a plethora of its new models and designs. These corporate events are usually big news in the press, particularly when former Apple employees decide to crawl out of the woodwork and give their two cents on the new products and features.
This year, Apple’s primary focus was its new iPhone 15 launch—yep, there’s a whole lot of them now. For someone who held onto her iPhone 8 for about four years, I’ve never been too fussed about having the newest model. However, this particular launch quickly became pretty juicy as commentators and tech experts began flooding the internet with their criticism of the model.
Tyler Morgan is a TikTok creator and former Apple employee who often posts pretty scathing reviews about new Apple products. In fact, he’s posted 99 of them. The creator has also given netizens a pretty insightful peak into the Apple culture and working environment:
A lot of the reviews are really helpful, particularly if you’re confused about which product might best suit your personal or professional needs.
Morgan has also provided some seriously-needed info as to why older iPhones might be starting to slow down:
Oh, and if you’re strapped for cash, the ex-employee also seems to have a lowdown on all of the best deals and tricks of the trade. From the best value for money iPhone to app bundles, Morgan’s seriously all here for helping out those of us who don’t have a casual couple grand sitting around to spend on tech.
Now, back to the 2023 Apple event. So, the main focus of the event was centred around promoting the new variations of the iPhone 15. On the lead up to the event, a number of people, including Morgan, had pointed out their speculations and potential criticisms of the iPhone 15 model—and this only continued during and immediately following the launch.
I mean, I think this video pretty accurately sums up how Morgan felt about the launch event:
If you yourself were considering jumping aboard the new iPhone 15 train but are now confused following all of the ongoing scepticism, resident TikTok news jockey Dylan Page did a video laying out all of the most important changes and features:
I personally am a big fan of the new baby pink iPhone colour. But that’s probably because I’m not quite ready for the Barbie fantasy to be over.
