Looking for a new job? Well a plant-based dog food company in the UK is on the hunt for a budding applicant to earn £5,000 simply by smelling their pet’s droppings for a period of two months. OMNI—the company in question—released a statement and application process on its website detailing its quest to find a strong-stomached individual willing to take a whiff of their dog’s poop everyday to understand what the impact of consuming a plant-based diet will have on their digestion among other factors.

Aware of the negative attitudes and misconceptions toward ‘flexitarian’ or plant-based diets on pet health, OMNI hopes that through this hiring process it can find someone to prove that its vet-approved diet can aid the general health of their pup—both inside and out; providing the perfect evidence to see the benefits of such diets on digestive health.

The company stated: “In return for the diet change and their work, we will pay the successful candidate a sum of £5,000, for an initial two-month role (£2,500 per month) and will cover all food expenses for the diet change, as well as support from a dog nutritionist to ensure the diet transition is done properly.”

“As a thank you for their dog’s cooperation too and to support the fully plant-based lifestyle, we will also give the successful candidate a supply of sustainable dog toys and vegan treats to keep their four-legged friend happy between meals,” it continued.

But it’s not just about smelling poop, if you’re ‘lucky’ enough to nab the position for the plant-based dog food company then you’ll have to record the entire experience. Not only will you, of course, monitor faeces odour but you’ll also have to assess your dog’s overall bowel movement, behaviour, health, sleep pattern and energy levels. Changes to their physical appearance—i.e. weight changes or fur condition—should also be noted. And not to worry, your pet will be examined both before and after the plant-based transition by a registered veterinarian.

Dog lover and co-founder of the brand, Shiv Sivakumar stated: “We’ve had lots of feedback from dog owners who report that their dogs’ digestion, energy levels and general health are all improved once switching to a flexitarian or plant-based diet.”

“We know that this is quite a peculiar vacancy but we also know that this is the way for us to put our money where our mouth is and show dog owners that plant-based dog food could improve their dog’s stool, general health and digestive health. The proof is in the poop and if you consider yourself to be the Gillian McKeith of the dog world, then apply now!”

To qualify for the application, your dog cannot currently be on a plant-based diet and you must be over 18 to apply. So, if your stomach is strong enough… go for it. Apply here.
