On Wednesday 6 December 2023, the Australian branch of the monthly men’s magazine GQ revealed the first few stills of this month’s cover star: Troye Sivan. The South-African-born and Perth, Australian-raised singer, songwriter and actor was chosen as GQ Australia’s Man of the Year 2023 and the big reveal was followed by one heck of an awards party, let me tell you that.

“No one has had a bigger year than Aussie sensation Troye Sivan,” GQ Australia’s Editor-In-Chief Jake Millar told news.com.au. “Not only did he release his acclaimed third album, which won four ARIA Awards and received two Grammy nominations, but he has appeared on screen, on the fashion runway, and even found time to release his own successful lifestyle brand (Tsu Lange Yor). It’s why Sivan is not simply one of the country’s most accomplished creatives but is a truly deserving winner of our 2023 GQ Man of the Year.”

2023 was Troye Sivan’s year

It’s undeniable that Sivan had a great year. The 28-year-old singer snatched a role in the star-studded TV series The Idol, which also featured Lily-Rose Depp, The Weekend and Jennie Ruby Jane from BLACKPINK. On the heels of appearing in one of the most talked-about shows of the year, the Grammy-nominated artist released his first studio album in five years, Something to Give Each Other.

To much critical acclaim and a solid commercial performance, if I might add. The album included chart-topping singles such as Rush, Got Me Started and One Of Your Girls and was dripping with sweat, glitter, and campy, unapologetic queerness. This 33-minute-long gift by the openly gay singer was an eclectic intervention to the straightness of mainstream pop, that drew on a range of genres including electro, synth and dance music, where his roots are of course.

Oh, and he was played by no other than American-American cutie Timothée Chalamet on SNL. This promptly led Sivan to change his Instagram profile picture to Chalamet cosplaying him:

Are Troye Sivan tour tickets live?

The last stage of Sivan’s plan for total domination in 2023 was the release of the tour dates for Something to Give Each Other.

His European tour starts on 29 May 2024 in Lisbon before heading to Stockholm, Berlin, Hamburg, Zürich and Amsterdam. The UK leg of the tour sees him play arena shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, London and Birmingham in June. The tickets are already available for purchase at Ticketmaster, Gigsberg, and Viagogo.
