Top Captain Holt moments from Brooklyn Nine-Nine that will make us miss Andre Braugher
Multiple news outlets have revealed that Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Andre Braugher has died following a short illness. Braugher, who was only 61 years old, passed away on Monday 11 December 2023. The actor’s career spanned over three decades and his dulcet tones and quick wit made him a favourite among boomers and gen Z.
While Braugher first made his mark in NBC’s police drama Homicide: Life on the Street, it was his portrayal of Captain Raymond Holt in the hilarious police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine that really cemented his fame.
I was a massive fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and I think it’s fair to say that the show had one of the best ensemble casts out there. And while I had love for Andy Samberg, Chelsea Peretti, and Melissa Fumero, it’s no secret that Braugher was the one we all rooted for.

2. Captain Holt being a robot
We love a man who embraces his authentic self and doesn’t try to change for anyone. Holt’s tendencies to go full-robot every now and then definitely helped make those moments of jubilation all the more satisfying. I personally think Holt would’ve been both pro AI and vehemently against it—he was a man of many layers, after all.

I think one of the sweetest character developments throughout the series was watching Captain Holt ultimately become incredibly fond of Peralta. Polar opposites in nature and discipline, their little bond was definitely a highlight for me.
