A former teacher at a private Christian high school in Florida has been arrested for allegedly twerking on an underage student and pressuring him to drink alcohol—even going as far as forcing the straw from her cup into his mouth.

Julie Kinsey Hoover, 39, used to teach at the Point of Grace Christian School in Perry, Florida—where she reportedly made the then-17-year-old boy drink alcohol and rubbed her body against him during the high school prom held on 8 April 2022.

“The former student informed the investigator that, at the prom, Ms. Hoover pressured him to drink alcoholic beverages, and multiple times put the straw from an alcoholic drink in his mouth,” the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, as noted by NBC News.

The student also said that Hoover approached him on the dance floor several times “and began twerking on him (rubbing her buttocks on him),” the office added. This made the 17-year-old uncomfortable and he left the dance floor each time.

Two other witnesses corroborated the teenager’s claims and told investigators that they got in between Hoover and the student on multiple occasions, urging the teacher to stop her actions.

As per NBC News, Hoover was jailed based on an arrest warrant that alleged a misdemeanour charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a second felony charge of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in lewd conduct with a student. “Jail records indicate Hoover was booked and released Tuesday,” the publication continued. “Her case included zero bond, according to those records.”

But this is not the first time the 39-year-old teacher has faced legal troubles.

Hoover was first arrested in June after deputies said she was sexting an 18-year-old senior at the high school. The mother of the student first contacted the sheriff’s office on 2 June after finding explicit messages between the teen and the teacher. Court documents also mentioned that Hoover was attempting to lure the student into her home while her husband was away at work.

As noted by WCTV, a spokesperson for the high school issued a statement in response to Hoover’s latest arrest. “Mrs. Hoover is a former teacher with Point of Grace Christian. We will not provide further information on her employment or departure from our school,” they said.

“The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office informed us of the allegations against Mrs. Hoover, and we have cooperated with the investigation. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not comment any further at this time.”
