Actor Elliot Page has expressed the “joy” he feels after his transition in a recent Instagram post where he posed shirtless for a cheeky selfie in the sun. “I am so grateful for what gender affirming care has allowed me and I look forward to sharing more of my journey soon,” Page continued in the post’s caption.

The Umbrella Academy star got real with his 6 million followers, writing that his gender dysphoria—which is defined as the state of unease or generalised dissatisfaction with life due to the mismatch between someone’s biological sex and gender identity—“used to be especially rife in the summer. No layers, just a T-shirt (or layers and oh so sweaty) constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized T.”

As countless fans and internet users flocked to the post to show their support for Page’s bravery since he came out as a transgender man back in December 2020, the picture garnered over 1.2 million likes.

Back in November 2021, Page shared his first-ever shirtless picture on the social media platform, which has since been liked by over 2.1 million users. That same year, the actor sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss how gender-affirming care has made him feel comfortable in his own body.

“Getting out of the shower and the towel is around your waist and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and you’re just like: ‘There I am.’ And I’m not having the moment where I’m panicked,” he explained, continuing, “It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for probably the first time.”

Page has a new book titled Pageboy: A Memoir, which is set to be published on 6 June 2023 and will delve into the actor’s behind-the-scenes details and intimate interrogations on sex, love, trauma and Hollywood.
