Are Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky getting a divorce? And if so, why didn’t we see it coming?

There’s been a death in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills community. On 3 July 2023, two veteran reality TV stars, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky, allegedly split up—ending a romance and marriage that spanned over two decades, and breaking the hearts of millions of fans along the way.

For all my fellow Bravo experts, you’ll know that Richards and Umansky were the crème de la crème of Real Housewives couples. They hosted the best parties, held hands and snogged in public, and altogether paraded their love while their fellow castmates drowned in a mountain of relationship wreckage—iconic behaviour.

Considering the fact that we’ve only just recovered from the chaos that was Vanderpump Rules’ Scandavol, Richards and Umansky’s alleged split definitely came as a surprise to viewers. While the couple have actively tried to dismiss divorce rumours, there is unquestionably a change in the relationship. And, let’s be real, when Bravo viewers sniff even the prospect of a breakup, the digging and obsessiveness automatically begins.

Everything began spiraling after People published an article wherein a supposed “close source” shared: “Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof. They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”

The pair first met back in 1994 in a club, and currently share three daughters, as well as another daughter Richards had with her previous husband. The former child actress was one of the OG housewives in Beverly Hills and so her marriage with Umansky was well-documented. While the couple haven’t lasted through the past 13 seasons completely unscathed—there were those nasty cheating rumours in season four which subsequently contributed to the breakdown of Richards and fellow castmate Lisa Vanderpump’s friendship—for the most part, their ride has been pretty smooth.

So, where have these current stories of trouble in paradise come from? Allegedly (empahsis on allegedly), Richards may or may not have had a mini tryst with female country music singer Morgan Wade. The two were spotted becoming increasingly close, even sharing a matching tattoo.

However, having examined all of the evidence, it’s pretty clear that either Richards is determined to deny all possible rumours that her and Umansky have split or that she’s been romantically involved with Wade, or the pair really are still together and are simply dealing with some issues within their marriage.

Four days ago, while being filmed by TMZ, Richards repeatedly stated that herself and Wade were “just good friends,” she was “not single,” and that Umansky and herself were not getting a divorce.

For now, it’s still unclear as to what exactly might be going on behind closed doors. But does anyone remember that iconic moment from season one of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when psychic Allison DuBois straight up told Richards that her and her husband would split once all of her children flew the nest? I have chills.

Interestingly enough, some sources have claimed that not only has filming started on the newest season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but that the supposed separation will be covered on the show. If there’s no divorce occurring, how on earth can it be featured on the show? I’m seriously Bravo-fused.

Whether the Richards X Umansky split is true or not, it feels as though messy divorces seem to be taking over everyone’s timeline at the moment. From Hollywood babes to reality TV royalty, pretty much everyone seems to be calling it quits. Kayak for one, please!
