We already knew that Kim Kardashian’s shapewear line SKIMS was pretty life-changing, however nobody said anything about the garments being life-saving. Well, believe it or not, that’s exactly what happened to 22-year-old TikToker @honeygxd, whose real name is Angelina Wiley.

The fellow gen Zer was shot four times in the stomach at a mass shooting in Kansas City, Missouri earlier this year during a New Year’s Day celebration. A few months later, on 18 May 2023, the young woman posted a TikTok online where she thanked SKIMS owner Kardashian and explained her story. The video has since gone viral and currently has amassed an impressive viewership of over 1.4 million viewers, and well over 240,000 likes. Hear from the survivor herself, on just how exactly Kim Kardashian came to her aid:

@honeygxd

The story narrowly avoided becoming a tragedy thanks to the tight-fitting shapewear that Wiley was wearing—the creator even went as far as to dub the outfit “body armour for women.” Her ode to Kardashian was noticed by the reality TV star herself, and in a now unavailable story post, she shared the video with the caption “wow” accompanied by prayer hand emojis.

The comments on Wiley’s video are filled with support for the survivor, along with praise for her courage, and good humour surrounding the incident. One user begged Kardashian to “sign her to a campaign asap,” while another user said that “she should get a lifetime supply of SKIMS.” Honestly, we couldn’t agree more.

Wiley has been chronicling her recovery from the shooting on her TikTok. On her page, she details the shocking events that unfolded on the night of the shooting, owing thanks to a girl who stayed with her after she collapsed following the attack.

@honeygxd

i remember when i took this, i had just stopped crying bc i had to have two nurses bathe me bc i could barely move. it felt so dehumanizing. but i tried to stay positive for those around me. its weird looking back at vids following when i got shot. it doesnt feel real. like how could that be me? #fyp #foryou #gunviolence #shooting #gunviolenceawareness

The fact that the tight-fitting clothing managed to keep pressure on her wounds during the shooting is nothing short of a miracle. As Wiley puts it: “You can call it fate or Jesus, but I’mma call it Kim.”
