We’ve got the scoop on Dakota Johnson’s epic journey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and, let’s just say, it doesn’t seem as though the actress is a particularly big fan of all things Marvel. During a recent interview, while promoting her new film Madame Web, Johnson may have let it slip that she didn’t exactly follow the Spider-Man franchise too closely.

Johnson, the latest addition to the superhero squad, takes the lead as Madame Web. Now, if you’re thinking that your Spidey senses are tingling, you’d be absolutely right! Madame Web cosies up in the same cinematic universe as Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man. But hold on to your web-shooters, because the nepotism baby seems to have missed the memo about brushing up on her Marvel lore.

Madame Web, a film with an $80 million price tag (£63 million), was out in theatre on 14 February 2024, and… it radiates desperation and embarrassment. Meanwhile, the real Spider-Man is with Disney in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Madame Web feels like a bit of an awkward stand-in…

In a recent MTV interview with fellow actor Josh Horowitz, our clairvoyant star faced the ultimate test. The challenge? Naming all three of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies. Confidently, Johnson declared, “Spider-Man: Here He Comes,” adding a dash of superhero flair. But it gets even better.

Spider-Man: And He’s Back” takes the spotlight for the second instalment, showcasing Johnson’s boundless creativity. And for the grand finale, behold “The Goblet of Spider-Man” or, on second thought, “Harry, Spider-Man, and the Goblet of Man.

During that same interview, Johnson went on to unveil her profound connection with the MCU, proudly proclaiming that she’s only seen a whopping “4 per cent” of all the Marvel movies. We’re talking about a Marvel marathon that’s shorter than a coffee break. Dakota, are you saving the rest for a rainy day?

Now, the pièce de résistance—Johnson’s confession. Apparently, the actress preferred the world of wizarding to superheroes…

The disappointment was palpable during the interview, and I can’t help but wonder if Johnson might’ve been better suited for a role in Harry Potter. Move over, Emma Watson, Johnson could have nailed Hermione Granger with her spellbinding confusion.
