The Barbie release day is finally within touching distance, so while we shiver with pink anticipation let’s marvel over the beauty that’s been Margot Robbie’s press tour looks. From Sydney to Seoul, Robbie has been referencing vintage Barbie dolls for weeks now and nothing gets me more excited than scrolling the internet for the latest Margot Mini mes.

Enchanted Evening Barbie doll, 1960

The Barbie tour wouldn’t be complete without at least one evening gown look, and at the recent London premiere on 12 July, Robbie was a vision in pastel pink. Referencing the 1960 Enchanted Evening Barbie, Robbie wore Vivienne Westwood in the late designer’s hometown. The corseted gown was draped identically to the vintage porcelain doll and featured a rosette with the iconic Westwood orb. The actress’ accessories completed the look with an enormous pearl choker, opera gloves and, tulle stole.

There is no doubt that Robbie is the spitting image of Barbie and her golden locks have the ability to make any fake blonde (myself included) seething with envy. For this look, she went for an effortless updo and neutral make up.

Totally Hair Barbie doll, 1992

My personal favourite is the Totally Hair Star Barbie from 1992. Wearing an Emilio Pucci mini dress with Chanel accessories, Robbie nailed this lewk head to toe. Her hair, however, was the stand out. Robbie’s perfectly crimped blonde hair is almost identical to the doll, the only downside is that her own locks sadly don’t graze her Manolo Blahnik pink pumps. There is some debate, however, if Kylie Jenner did it better. Personally, I’m on team Margot.

Day to Night Barbie doll, 1985

For this look, Robbie is in her corporate girlie era. Turning up to the pink carpet in a Versace skirt suit with a hat and 80s oversized bedazzled phone to match, she looked identical to the 1985 doll. With every nine-to-five comes a Thursday after-work drinkies,so Robbie transitioned into a sparkling gown and got her dancing boots on.

Solo in the spotlight Barbie doll, 1960

Controversially, Robbie wore black to the LA premiere as she dolled herself up to recreate the solo in the spotlight Barbie character from 1960. Barbie was having a star-studded moment in the 60s, I’ll tell you that for free. Dressed in Schiaparelli the dress does look almost impossible to walk in. It’s giving Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala. Once again, Robbie nailed the accessories, all that was missing was the microphone for Robbie to belt out Aqua’s iconic track Barbie Girl, or even better, the Charli XCX remix.

Earring Magic Barbie doll, 1992

Robbie’s stylist Andrew Mukahmal  has pulled out every designer from the closet, this time is Mugler. As the name suggests the earrings were the focal point of this outfit, while Robbie’s pair might not have been the same size as the dolls, she still got pretty close. One thing we are glad of is that Robbie didn’t recreate the half-up-half-down size ponytail. Now, that would have been criminal.
