If you were to take Amelia Dimoldenberg’s awkwardness and sprinkle in 20 per cent stand-offishness and 20 per cent aloofness, you’d get Bobbi Althoff. The 26-year-old has become a titan in the podcast world, racking up an impressive six million followers on TikTok and bagging guests like Tyga, Lil Yachty, and Future for her show aptly titled The Really Good Podcast.

More notably, she interviewed Canadian rapper Drake and despite the episode having gone viral practically overnight, reaching the staggering heights of 29 million views, it seems as though there might be some trouble in paradise. Recent reports have revealed that the infamous interview has been erased from the internet—leading to mass speculation as to what could have gone down between Althoff and Drake. Let’s revisit what we know so far.

The interview with Drake was definitely uncomfortable to sit through at times, making it no different from the podcaster’s previous episodes. But it’s what Althoff does best, she probed the rapper about his music, insisting that she’s never listened to any of it and then proceeded to ask him to pay for her flight home. Which, in her defence, isn’t really a bad idea—he’s definitely got the funds.

With the pair sat in bed, Althoff’s interview technique is definitely different from what you’d consider to be ‘normal’. Her mannerisms resemble those of an uninterested teenager, goading her guests and pretending as though she really doesn’t want to be there—let alone learn anything about the usually famous individual she’s speaking to.

You can tell that Althoff is playing a character while she speaks to these musicians, but it’s borderline confusing as to what her motivation is. If it’s solely to disarm them and try to get them to share something about themselves they’ve not previously shown on camera, it’s definitely working.

Either way, Althoff’s fans ate this up and they were even more delighted to see the influencer go on to share a video of herself awkwardly cosplaying as bored during a recent Drake concert on 13 August 2023.

So, why is it that less than 24 hours later, the podcaster deleted the viral interview from the internet, including the audio version on Spotify, unfollowed him on social media, and shared a Story on her Instagram saying that she had a big announcement coming next Monday? It’s all very suss.

Some netizens began wondering whether or not Althoff and Drake had fallen out for some reason, because it is a pretty rogue move to completely erase any evidence that the two had sat down together. Others have become convinced that it’s simply a big marketing ploy to try and ramp up attention and hype surrounding the podcaster. Either way, it’s gotten people’s attention. We just hope that the potential beef has nothing to do with past rumours of creepy behaviour from the Canadian rapper.

There are also those who believe that Althoff is actually an industry plant because how on Earth does she have access to all of those massive artists? Maybe it’s simply because she’s creative. The podcaster recently shared that she offered $300 to anyone on TikTok who could connect her with a celebrity to interview.

People will definitely be keeping watch to see what exactly Althoff does next.
