That’s it guys, we’ve reached the end of season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the American coming-of-age romantic drama TV created by author Jenny Han for Amazon Prime Video, which is based on her novel trilogy of the same name. On Friday 18 August 2023, episode 8, titled Love Triangle, marked the finale of Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah’s tumultuous first summer without their beloved Susannah.
As team Conrad girlies were left heartbroken after he made the selfless decision not to stand in the way of his brother and the love of his life’s blossoming romance, and team Jeremiah fans finally got to see Belly pick the younger brother, we all mourned the end of season 2—the end of summer—already eager to find out when season 3 (which has already been confirmed) would hit our screens.
But did we get fooled? That’s what some TSITP fans seem to be thinking over on TikTok. Users have already hijacked the TV series’ many trending hashtags with theories on why episode 8 wasn’t the season’s last instalment. So, why are they saying this, and will we actually get a ninth episode on Friday 25 August? Here’s everything we know so far.
Whether that’s in the book trilogy or in its TV adaptation, one thing is clear: Susannah’s Fourth of July party is incredibly important to both the Fisher boys and Belly. In season 2, we see Belly falling in and out of love with the two brothers, grieving their late mother (aka Susannah), and trying to save the beach house she loved so dearly.
No matter how much went down between the three of them, the last time we see Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah all together in episode 9 is when the older brother says bye to them. He makes the decision to let Belly and Jeremiah be together, probably in an attempt to honour his mother’s dying wish.
As he’s about to leave, he asks Belly and Jeremiah, “See you guys at the Fourth of July?” Despite Susannah not being there anymore, it’s clear that the holiday is very much a tradition they intend on celebrating all together regardless.
“Yeah, I’ll be there,” Jeremiah answers him. Then Belly looks at Conrad and says: “Yeah, I wouldn’t miss Susannah’s favourite holiday.” Conrad leaves the room on the verge of yet another panic attack, while Jeremiah and Belly head to her volleyball camp.
Fans seem to suggest that Jenny Han wouldn’t end season 2 with a final scene of Belly playing volleyball. Clearly in need of more drama, many TSITP enthusiasts seem convinced that that’s what we’ll get on Friday. It should be noted however that absolutely nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Han herself also once revealed online that there would be nine Taylor Swift songs featured in season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Fans were quick to point out that only eight Taylor Swift songs had been featured in the latest season. Were they right though? Well, not really.
Unfortunately, it looks like they might have missed one of T.Swizzle’s songs. Here’s the full list from season 2:
– This Love (Taylor’s Version)
– Last Kiss (Taylor’s Version)
– Invisible String
– Hey Stephen (Taylor’s Version)
– Sweet Nothing
– Delicate (Taylor’s Version)
– Snow On The Beach
– Bigger Than The Whole Sky
– exile
Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, we know that Conrad, Belly and Jeremiah all promised that they will be there. The question is, will you?

Friday 25 August UPDATE: Sadly, it seems like we won’t be getting a bonus episode for season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
