Another day, another comment on a controversy. This time, it’s all based around no other than Wonka and Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet, who recently attempted to set the record straight about his latest movie Bones And All and its connections to those Armie Hammer cannibalism rumours.
During the time Chalamet started to film the cannibalistic romance, his former co-star Hammer faced allegations of rape, sexual assault and, you guessed it, cannibalism. The accusations were so bizarre and gruesome that they could have been straight out of a horror flick, which is why fans started to suspect that Chalamet’s character Lee in the Luca Guadagnino movie was in fact based on Hammer.
However, in a recent interview with GQ, the American-French actor used the opportunity to shut these rumours down once and for all.
Chalamet queried: “I mean, what were the chances that we’’re developing this thing [when the Hammer story broke]?” When asked about his feelings towards Hammer, the actor remained rather vague in his response: “I don’t know. These things end up getting click-baited so intensely. Disorienting is a good word.” Not exactly as juicy as I was hoping for.
Nevertheless, we cannot help but wonder about the timing of Chalamet’s comments. In early August of this year, rumours about a potential split from make-up mogul Kylie Jenner, whom he started dating in early April, started to circulate.
The reports stated that Chalamet, who had been seeing Jenner romantically for approximately seven months, had called things quits due to the couple’s hectic lifestyles that left little room for seeing each other.
These rumours were quickly dispelled by the pair making sweet tributes to each other, like when Jenner was spotted with a picture of Chalamet as her phone’s lock screen.
Netizens also got the occasional sighting together to confirm that the two were still dating—you remember that infamous Beyoncé concert. Yet, the gossip mill is still in overdrive about their potential relationship status, with TikTokers forming theories about any meet-up or look that is exchanged between the two.
So is the Call Me By Your Name actor just trying to divert attention from his much-covered love life by commenting on a much bigger controversy?
Well, Chalamet did actually publicly comment on his relationship with Jenner for the first time. The actor noted in the GQ interview that “people are going to be hella confused” when celebrities like him and Jenner express the desire to “live a private life.” After all, they are very public figures. Otherwise, the actor stayed very silent about his relationship. Make of that what you will internet. It looks like this Beautiful Boy intends to tease us when it comes to details of his private life.
