Shoreditch is by far one of the edgiest corners of this nation’s capital. If you manage to successfully dodge the finance bros flocking around Liverpool Street station, you’ll find yourself wandering into Spitalfields market where you’ll be met with an array of different cuisines, all prepped and ready to tantalise your tastebuds. Let’s just say the SCREENSHOT team has been known to sample a sweet treat or two at the market during our lunch hour.

A few steps further and you’ll find yourself on one of the best vintage shopping streets in the world: Brick Lane. While the prices are a smidge more than your local charity shop, it’s a paradise for vintage designer clobber.

So, on our daily pilgrimage we decided to resist the urge to drop the cash in Rokit, and instead spent the day scouting the streets for  some of East London’s trendiest shoppers.

How would you define your style?

“I would say I’m a bit of a Bella bot. All my inspiration comes from Bella Hadid but I would not define it one way. Some days I look super girly, and then other days it’s a bit more street.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

“Like I said, Bella Hadid. No brands in particular. I shop a lot of second-hand: car boot sales, Vinted, Depop. Post-fashion show street style is my favourite thing to look at.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“I’m on the spot here, I nip slip all the time.”

What is a fashion trend you hate?

Ballet flats. I hate them, I don’t know why they’ve come back in. Not a vibe.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“Currently, jorts. They might be a micro trend, but definitely jorts. They’re so sick, I love them.”

How would you define your style?

“I get inspiration from anywhere and I go to CSM and everyone wears very unique clothes. One of the hardest things for me is because I’m quite fat. It’s hard to find clothes that fit me, especially in womenswear.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

“Margiela, Vivienne Westwood and the older Rick Owens collections.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“My Asian parents would never let me wear the kind of things I wear now. To them, every outfit I wear next to them is embarrassing. So it’s more their embarrassment instead of mine.”

What is a fashion trend you hate?

“Honestly, I respect every fashion trend. You can make any trend your own.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“I love lace and I love people wearing a good brassiere.”

How would you define your style?

“I think it’s everything that is inside me, my inner dynamism. It really depends, sometimes it’s Barbie, today I feel more classy, elegant, but always with a twist.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

“There isn’t one thing I get inspired from, but obviously I get inspired by what I see on social media. So I can’t say that my style is super unique and that it is me who invented this look, but my style comes quite naturally.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“I don’t think I have one. I’m not embarrassed by my past fashion choices because at that time I felt myself. I won’t look at it and think ‘I want to wear that now,’ but it was the style at the time.”

What is a fashion trend you hate?

“I don’t hate any particular fashion trends because they are what they are. I think you should follow the trends that you want to follow. But I do tend to wear what is popular.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“Same answer really, there’s not a specific one that I love. I don’t really know what the trends are now.”

How would you define your style?

“Very monochromatic. I normally just wear black, white or denim. I like mixing styles, so feminine with a bit of an edge. Monochrome is perfect for AllSaints as well, it’s a lot of black.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

Old people for sure. I get influenced by anything and everything.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“My whole teenage era, from when I was 15 to 20.”

What is a fashion trend you hate?

“I don’t hate any trends, they’re a trend for a reason.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“I’m really loving how people are adding little ribbons to accessorise with. It’s really cute.”

How would you define your style?

“A bit of a mixture. I like a lot of bright colours and looking at what’s trending and trying to find it in a charity shop or Vinted. Dresses and skirts are my go-to. I love girly dresses but also streetwear brands too, and lots of leopard print.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

“I look at a lot of what’s on Instagram and influencers. In terms of brands, I love Damson Madder.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“You could probably go back to an outfit I wore last week but I went through a phase in secondary school where I wore lots of oversized polos. Also the outfits I’d wear clubbing at uni, I’d just rotate a nice top and denim skirt all the time.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“I really love gilets at the moment and oversized smock dresses. Also, double denim.”

How would you define your style in one word?

“I’m quite basic, I wear a lot of cargos. Plain black and white and a lot of stripes.”

Who or what are the main influences behind your style?

“I love Sofia Riche’s style at the minute, it’s very modest and clean.”

What’s been your most embarrassing fashion moment?

“I hate skinny jeans on boys, Dsquared2 jeans, anything like that is vile. Kenzo too.”

What is a fashion trend you hate?

“I went to a festival two years ago and it was very PrettyLittleThing and very tight and rubbish.”

What is a fashion trend you love?

“I love macs and wide leg trousers, and although I don’t wear lots of it, I love tons of colour.”
