American singer, songwriter, musician and actor Dominic Fike—though already celebrated in the music industry—truly rose to fame after featuring as Eliott in Euphoria’s season two, which had its first episode air on 9 January 2022. With over 3.7 million followers on Instagram and being none other than Hunter Schafer’s—who plays the iconic Jules in the hit show—boyfriend, it’s safe to say that Fike has managed to amass an important fanbase in the last five months.

And with a big following comes loyal crowds to his gigs. So you can imagine everyone’s surprise when Fike mentioned Amber Heard’s name in the middle of a recent concert. In a video shared yesterday, Wednesday 25 May, on TikTok by the user @dominicandhunter, the musician can be seen pausing his performance on stage for a little chatty interlude.

“I’m gonna come out and say it, Imma be real with y’all. I actually think Amber Heard is hot, dude,” Fike can be heard speaking into his mic as the audience remains quiet. But not for long. As soon as the crowd registers what he’s referring to—Heard, who’s currently involved in a defamation trial from her ex-husband Johnny Depp, is seeing some strong backlash online from fans who believe she lied about being a victim of abuse and instead was the perpetrator—cries of disapproval can be heard coming from attendees.

“I know it’s not a popular opinion and it’s not the focus at the moment dude but I’ve been having these visions of her,” Fike is then heard trying to justify himself. “She’s beating me up, and I think it’s hot,” he concluded before attaching his mic back on its stand, looking like he’s about to perform another song before the video cuts off.

As you’d probably expect, the video’s comments section is currently popping off with fans’ reactions as the TikTok continues to gain views. “I think it’s time for me to hand in my dominic fike stan card, who wants it??” wrote @dominicandhunter. “Literally WHAT. Did he think people were gonna agree with him?” asked another.

“Is he single handedly trying to get himself cancelled?” added a third user. According to Newsweek, who also reported on Fike’s controversial statement, the singer ended up getting booed for saying this. Though it can’t be said why exactly he shared this “vision” with his fans—and didn’t think of the repercussions of such a problematic declaration—some netizens are already linking it to Fike’s rumoured split from Schafer and him trying to see “how much he can get away with.”
