Streamers hailing from Twitch have long been known for their tendency to exhibit some serious rage. Yes, the top dogs like XQC and Ninja are skilled gamers, but let’s be real, we’re watching them for one thing and one thing only: a classic streamer freakout.
Naturally, competitive video gaming—as well as extended periods of play—lead to tempers rising. When paired with a live chat that will never stop providing a long list of antagonising streamers, you’re bound to have some delicious meltdowns. If watching someone lose it in front of a live audience makes you bounce off the walls with glee like me, scroll on to watch the best clips that TikTok has to offer.
Starting with one of my personal favourites, ex-Overwatch pro turned full-time streamer Felix ‘XQC’ Lengyel is best known for his upbeat and more often than not chaotic streams. Of course, a lot of the chaos is fuelled by his encounters with other players in game, and this incident of XQC being hunted down across multiple game lobbies by a player in a seemingly patronising banana costume seemed to be too much for Lengyel to handle:
The title is pretty self-explanatory. In a moment of stunned rage after losing a level of the auto-scrolling challenge platformer Geometry Dash XQC shoves his mouth into his mouth and tries to take a bite because, who wouldn’t, right?
Adding to the endearing qualities of the Canadian streamer, is his utter loss of sense and coherence when raging in game and this unfortunate death in Riot Games’ competitive hero shooter Valorant is no different.
This is a classic XQC clip, and if you haven’t seen it by now then you’re about to witness something truly special. Gamers’ desks have long suffered the angry fists of players taking out their frustrations, but XQC decides to shake things up and instead of hammering on his desk, he somehow manages to slam into it with his feet. It’s gotta be seen to be believed.
Less of a rage, and more of a hilarious victory chant, Lengyel’s excitement at finally turning the tide of battle results in him screaming, but his mic doesn’t seem to be able to keep up, resulting in a hilarious instance of mic spam.
Tyler1 is infamous for his toxicity in game, and his frequent outbursts on stream. Though many would argue that Tyler ‘Tyler1’ Steinkamp is playing a character, the following clip reveals a slightly darker side to the world of streaming and is a rare moment of honesty between Steinkamp and his audience, as he unleashes a tirade against League of Legends.
After a tense game of Overwatch, Tyler1 is told to shut up by a fellow player. His reaction?
Any League of Legends player will know how frustrating it is to accidentally use a summoner spell out of combat—a spell that has a painfully long cooldown and is best saved for tough battles. Tyler1’s reaction to the mishap is how we all feel on the inside.
The clip, which has little context, sees Steinback freaking out over wearing a regular T-shirt, ripping it off while screaming “get this sh*t off me!” I love this one, as it really highlights just how manic his persona can get.
Richard Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja skyrocketed to the top of Twitch during the rise of Fortnite, bringing his temper tantrums and obnoxious personality to a whole new generation of viewers. Check out the following clip to see Ninja lose it when a player tries their best to survive. Nothing wrong with that right?
Blevins manages to freak out over anything, even a snide remark from a kid he’s just killed in DayZ. This particular freakout stands out as one of Ninja’s most entertaining moments and is definitely worth witnessing.
What happens when you try to join a lobby with a bad microphone? Expect to be roasted by everyone present. Fellow streamers CourageJD and TimTheTatMan leave Ninja fuming in this hilarious clip.
Look, it’s annoying when someone taunts you after dying in a video game; it’s a classic form of online trolling that any seasoned gamer will have suffered, but witnessing Ninja’s freakout in the middle of a game primarily marketed to children? Come on, man.
This slightly more lighthearted clip sees Blevins suffering the worst fate anyone can meet in an online game of UNO—endless pickups.
TikTokers have dubbed this a classic Ninja freak-out. The total overreaction to getting knocked out of a match is par for the course when it comes to players like Ninja, who seem incapable of letting even the smallest things go.
Streamer Mizkif found himself immersed in the “streamer-bait” challenge platformer Only Up, which involves you navigating a difficult climb up to a summit with no save points, and plenty of opportunities to fall and lose your progress. His reaction to losing 15 hours of climbing is an absolute must-see.
Mizkif tries his hand at speedrunning one of gaming’s biggest classics and fails miserably. The result? A smashed controller while Mizkif sulks away.
