Fans accuse Austin Butler of changing his voice to sound more like Elvis after filming biopic

American actor Austin Butler first popped up on our radar after he played Sebastian Kydd in The Carrie Diaries, The CW show which revolved around the life of Carrie Bradshaw before she became the character we all know and love in Sex and the City. Butler played Bradshaw’s primary love interest and simultaneously managed to rob the hearts of the series’ mostly teen audience.

At the time, Butler was dating High School Musical sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens. The two quickly became the queen and king of Coachella fashion—in fact, they first made their relationship official at Coachella 2012. Fast forward to December 2017 and rumours began to swirl that the two actors might soon get engaged. Spoiler alert: they didn’t…

Then in January 2020, after spending the holidays apart and not appearing together on social media for months, Us Weekly reported the couple’s split on 14 January. A source told the outlet, “Vanessa and Austin are officially broken up, and Vanessa has been telling those close to her about their breakup.”

This could have been detrimental to Butler’s career, but the California-born actor had other plans. Soon after booking the role of Elvis in a 2022 biographical musical film directed by Baz Luhrmann, Butler—much like Pete Davidson—was spotted with a few high profile ladies, the first being that infamous smooch with Lily-Rose Depp.

Then following a rumoured short fling with his Elvis co-star Olivia DeJonge, Butler later started dating Cindy Crawford’s daughter—and Jacob Elordi’s ex—model and absolute beauty Kaia Gerber. Regardless of some comments highlighting the considerable age difference between the two celebrities—Butler is 30 and Gerber, 20—their relationship only appears to have grown stronger as they continue to make more public appearances on the red carpet.

This brings us to the Met Gala 2022, where Gerber brought her boyfriend along to climb the iconic red steps, in turn resulting in some pretty notable shots of the two handsome celebrities. But we’re not here to dwell on what they were wearing or how awkward it was for Butler to bump into his ex, Hudgens…

We’re here to shed light on what netizens have picked up on when it comes to Butler’s accent and overall way of speaking. After the actor did a few interviews at the infamous event to promote his upcoming (and highly anticipated) movie Elvis—in which he plays the king himself—viewers couldn’t help but notice that Butler’s typical Californian accent had been replaced with a deep Presley-like and surprisingly Southern-accented speech.

A quick Google search of the man from some older interviews will confirm that he may have always had a fairly deep voice. However, the contrast seen more recently simply can’t be denied:

Kim Kardashian fans think she’s changing her voice to sound like boyfriend Pete Davidson

Though Kim Kardashian, 41, and Pete Davidson, 28, have been (officially) dating since October 2021, their relationship has only recently been teased on the new Hulu and Disney+ produced reality TV show following the iconic family, The Kardashians.

Ever since the fourth episode of the show aired on 5 May, fans have been debating whether Kim’s voice has changed since she started dating Davidson. In a now-viral clip from the show, the media personality is heard jokingly saying, “Marriages come and go.”

Kardashian goes on to make fun of her own failed marriages and even hints she’d like her next one to be the last.

The debate surrounding her potential voice change all started when a user shared the clip on Reddit along with the caption, “Kinda cute how Kim has started to sound so much like Pete.”

In the comments section, fans were quick to discuss whether Kardashian had a new East coast, Staten Island-inspired accent. One Reddit user even wrote: “Her valley girl voice [has] transformed into a middle-aged woman from Staten Island.”

Another fan attempted to transcribe Kardashian’s quote in what they perceived to be a ‘new’ accent: “NO OFFENCE GUYS HEUHHEUHEU TAKE IT FROM ME HEUHEUHEUHEU.”

A third fan wrote, “Lmfao she is sounding like the late great Big Ang from Mob Wives,” and another user went as far as to blame Kardashian’s mother Kris for this sudden change: “I just see pure Kris Jenner in this hahaha.”

While those fans seem to mostly agree on the fact that the reality TV star might be changing some parts of her personality due to her relationship with Davidson, others seem to think she might finally feel comfortable enough to really be herself. Either way, we’re liking this chilled version of you, Kim.
