On Tuesday 10 October 2023, while speaking at the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit event in Cleveland, Ohio, American rapper and singer-songwriter Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), real name Colson Baker, had to deal with a fan storming the stage he was on.

MGK’s knee-jerk reaction? To quickly stand up, and not run away. Instead, he faced the interrupter of his interview with Forbes’ senior editor of the publication’s renowned 30 Under 30 lists, Kristin Stoller.

Megan Fox’s infamous lover—if they’re still together, that is—then went on to warn the individual who had jumped on the stage: “My man, get the f*ck away from me.” MGK could also be seen balling his hands into a fist, as if ready to fight the intruder off.

The fan attempted to respond before Kelly cut him off and said: “Yo, what are you doing? What are you doing? This is a bad look. Don’t make me do this,” before his mic is cut off. Quickly after, security stormed the stage, taking away the fan as MGK sat back down on his chair, his mic turned back on.

That’s when the singer apologised to the crowd for his slightly tense reaction, stating: “I’m sorry, I try to live the dichotomy more on this side than the other guy. I left that guy in the past. I’m really sorry.”

He continued, “But here is what I would like to say, I do apologise for my primal reaction.” Cheers and applause could then be heard from the crowd, with Stoller commending the musician for handling the situation “amazingly.”

Seemingly not ready to carry on with the interview, MGK continued: “My advice for people who have an idea, that want to present it to other creators or people they believe can be a vessel for their idea is pick a good time and a place, this was a bad time and a place.”

“When I’m eating food and noodles are in are in my mouth, that is a bad time. When I’m with my daughter at a volleyball game or I am being a father, that is a bad time. I think a lot of that are misunderstood, like these are moments that are owed,” he concluded.

It didn’t take long for the clip of the altercation to go viral online, with many users praising the rapper for his reaction and his attitude following the incident. Keeping in mind that Kelly’s been slammed for poor behaviour in the past, this latest moment does seem out of character, in a positive way.

What do you think of MGK’s reaction?
