GB News is making headlines again, this time because the controversial broadcaster has entered a whole new level of gross. On Monday 18 September 2023, news presenter Bev Turner and her co-presenter Andrew Pierce got into a heated argument in relation to Turner’s very public declaration of support for comedian Russell Brand. The disgraced comedian has recently been accused of serious sexual assault allegations, including grooming of a 16-year-old girl and aggravated rape.

Shortly after the allegations surfaced in an investigative documentary by Channel 4, Turner—who has frequently accused the mainstream media of tearing down individuals for no reason—posted a statement on Twitter vehemently defending Brand and even going as far as to call him “a hero.”

The post read: “You are being attacked @rustyrockets. Establishment media don’t know what to do with the fact that you have 6 million subscribers & generate autonomous, knowing and original content. You are welcome on my @GBNEWS show anytime. We are mainstream media. But we are not establishment media. There’s a difference.”

While it’s already unthinkable to publicly support someone who’s been accused of such horrific acts, Turner then had the audacity to go on a live broadcast and not only defend her words but also take the bold step to actively insult the alleged victims of Brand’s attacks.

Turner’s co-presenter, Pierce, openly expressed to her: “Bev, that is shameful. You have dismissed, in one tweet, a four-year investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4. A 16-year-old girl has complained of being groomed by this man, two women have said they were raped, and there are more and more cases coming to light, and you say ‘you’re a hero’.”

Turner, resolute in her astonishing statements, claimed to have consulted sources close to The Times and other mainstream media outlets, asserting that she was “confident that there was no smoking gun.” The journalist—and let me tell you, it really pains me to call her that—went on to say that the investigation was clearly not very strong whatsoever and that the four “flimsy” allegations were coming from women who “choose to stay anonymous.” It was a truly disgusting moment to see.

I don’t know what’s more disturbing, her written words, or the self-righteous little sneer on her face. Seriously, someone take this woman’s microphone away from her.

Turner concluded her deluded rant by stating that Brand was clearly a “threat” to the establishment media. Presumably, the presenter was insinuating that Brand’s YouTube channel and series of wellness retreats were so incredibly threatening to Channel 4 that they simply had to conjure up these claims against him… Yeah, sure thing babe.
